"It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes". (Psalm 119:71)
Mr. Katsue Abe is a president of Airin Offset Printing Company in Hongo, Kesennuma city. He lives with his wife Hisako and his daughter's family of two.

When the Great East Japan Earthquake took place on the 11th March, 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Abe were in a certain country of Asia to visit their eldest daughter in the service as a missionary.
They received the news of the earthquake there. And they knew that Kesennuma was very serious situation and a big damage from the news, therefore they canceled all appointments after that, and then they were finally able to return to Kesennuma on March 15.

Muddy water of 1.6 meters high was also printing plant invasion, and 100 million yen worth of printing facilities have suffered catastrophic damage that they have been built up over the forty years.

"When I returned to Kesennuma and I set one foot in my damaged factory, my feet were freezing in spite of the situation to the dreadfulness of that. And I was attacked by a feeling of hopeless, and I thought that was impossible and made a comeback, and I was the only cry in frustration and anxiety for the future with my wife". Mr. Abe said.

And then they began their life in the shelter. (Picture below: Mr. and Mrs. Abe and their daughter's family from right side.

But church just did not have lost the great disaster. Free bazaar to distribute relief supplies was held at the church at 2:00 p.m. this day. I received a deep impression from the attitude that was going to affect the need of neighbors without forgetting the role of the church while being himself victim.
The damage of printing company was not small at all.

The precious "much paper" which they saved got wet and had to throw them away.

When the print machine parts which were not usable are carried out and are loaded onto two 10 tons of trucks by workers and saw off what is scrapped on the morning of Sunday of May 1, 2011, it is said that Mr. Abe was felt vexation and loneliness not to be able to make for description.

The worship of this day was performed in the room of the tatami mat of the printing company where the blue plastic seat which was not over the getting out mud work was still spread, and 40 Christians who came to Kesennuma city as a volunteer from Singapore, Korea, and U.S.A. attended at the worship too.

The husband of the third daughter of Mr. Abe from the Niigata prefecture just came to the help of the clean-up work, and he confessed his faith to believe Jesus Christ on the spot. Mr. Abe and his family continued to pray for the arrival of this day for ten years. His confession of faith would be satisfied by the big joy that the loneliness like the point vanished for Mr. Abe.
People of the volunteer rushed to the factory after being carried out debris and print machine parts and they cleared it steadily and then half space of the factory became the temporary chapel of the church.

And as for a strong wish of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Abe made up their mind to reopen a print company.

And they were able to reopen print duties in the end of May, 2011 as a result that the system which a PC to use for print was donated, and a used paper cutting machine, a paper folding machine, a bookbinding machine, a color on-demand printing machine, and a monochrome press were delivered, and was met for a various order in spite of being small scale was set.

They had a new challenge last autumn. It was a print request of pamphlets for missionary outreach from Christian publishing company "Inochino Kotoba" publishing company. It was a nice proposal for him, but therefore it was necessary for Mr. Abe to prepare for the offset press which did 40 million yen with a new article. As a result of having looked for it here and there at once, a " display " was found in him one and price was 30 million yen, but seemed to be able to use it if they maintained it. Mr. Abe decided to buy this printing press with faith and at first he sent a prospectus to acquaintances and gathered support and donation.

As a result, he was able to purchase a printing press on March 23, 2012.

When I visited there, a volunteer worker of man and some part-time employees just took a break in a tea time.
They were just working on the bookbinding of the textbooks to use at a theological college of Sendai city and did it. In addition, some church members came to help partly because the appointed date of delivery approached.

"Inochino Kotoba" publishing company has asked to print the brochure called "A light shining in the darkness" written by pastor Akira Sato of Fukushima First Bible Church who is also same disaster victim as Mr. Abe in his new printing press at first.

This church also belongs to the same conservative Baptist alliance as Kesennuma church and is located in the town of Okuma, Fukushima prefecture, only 5 km distance from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant that caused the nuclear accident on March 11, last year.

Under the influence of the radioactivity will not be able to use the new church was built three years ago, and no longer have residents from the town, the church people have been forced to live in a group and evacuation too.

"It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees (love)". (Psalm 119:71)

Mr. Abe is woven clenching this Words of Bible now, and he says as follows:
"Through the help of many hands, I was able to know the love of God who immeasurable let me stand up in this large trial. I learned that the One who loves us even me in pain and what are folded closed to the side. And I felt that happiness is still too much to lose everything now at this time".
